The ability to quickly pick up new choreography is a desired trait in a dancer. Whether it is merely dance class, a rehearsal or an audition, dancers that are a quick study will stand out fast. There is a lot of brain and memory ability required in a successful dancer. If you can't remember the moves or combinations you won't be able to perform the dance. The more time that the choreographer has to spend teaching you the steps takes away from fine tuning the performance.
